Being able to run outside again for the 1st time!
We’re allowed outside again. Oh my god, what a joy! The beaches are still officially closed but we’re now allowed outside to exercise between 7-12noon.
So, I put my running shoes on and went for my first run since lock down started. And fuck did it feel good.
We’re still not allowed on the beaches yet but I’m running along the road parallel to the beach and have the wind in my hair and can feel the sea spray on my face.
I have a real love hate relationship with running – I pretty much hate the first 10 minutes of every run but once I get into a rhythm, I love it. It is my therapy, sorts my head out and when I run consistently for 3 weeks – I feel my body change.
I’m not sure if it’s my inner rebel but after being told I can’t run it is literally been all I’ve wanted to do. Today, I got out and did 4 miles and it felt amazing!
I can procrastinate like a mofo so having a shorter window of opportunity to run may be the making of me, forcing me out the door sooner rather than leaving it until later and then not bothering.
I will try and remember what a privilege it is to have the freedom to run next time I can’t be bothered to get out the door.
