Glam camping @ Glastonbury – Hotel Bell Tent

I must confess to being a little disappointed to hear we were not staying in PodPads at Glastonbury and instead a Bell Tent would be our home for the duration of Glastonbury 2010. Little did I know…

I totally ate my words when I arrived. Reception had a beduin feel, all purple drapes and tiny low tea tables - with fantastically comfy slouchy seats. These seats were an ideal place to relax in the shade while waiting for guests.

The tents themselves are 4ft in diameter, high enough so you can stand up straight in them and can comfortably fit 2-3 – although would probably house 4 people at a push.

The first thing that caught my eye as I enter my Bell Tent is the stunning candélabre in the centre of the tent, with a circle of tea lights in brightly coloured glass holders. This comes complete with a candlelighter and fire extinguisher, thankfullly I had no need for the latter.

The little details make all the difference, a string of pretty glass butterflys on the guy rope, some cutesy arabic style tea tables, a rug.

The beds are blow up mattresses and the very helpful guys on reception offered to reinflate it should it start going down of the course of the weekend – a nice offer, which was not required.

Glastonbury this year was scorcio during the day and bitterly cold at night. The candles helped create a bit of extra heat (although some nights I still froze) and the airpockets during the day allow a much needed breeze to get in.

The communal areas were an unexpected bonus and a great place to hang out out in the shade, there were also seats outside in an awning, but it was really too hot to enjoy sitting in the sun for any length of time.

All in all Hotel Bell Tent is a stunning place to stay, camping will never be the same for me again. Stay Glam, Rock On at Hotel Bell Tent.

I’m Sarah and I'm currently studying for my WSET Wine and Spirits Diploma whilst juggling a busy job in drinks PR. Eats, Drinks and Sleeps pretty much sums up my existence, although I'm trying to add working out to that equation too - so I can eat and drink guilt free. I'm always keen to attend tastings or events that I could learn something from, and always on the look out for new places to eat and drink and discoveries that will expand my palate and culinary repertoire. I love to meet like-minded wine and spirit loving types who are generous with their recommendations, get in touch via slb5(at)hotmail(dot)co(dot)uk if you have something to share.
